The Gordon Morris Bakken Scholarship in Western History in the amount of $500 will be awarded to a graduate student in history researching the Trans-Mississippi West.  Applications must detail the research questions, the agenda including travel to archives, and probable date of completion.

Applications must include:

1). A Resume which includes the school's name and the year the applicant was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta

2).  Two (2) letters of recommendation

Applicants must be verified members of Phi Alpha Theta to be eligible. Previous winners are not eligible to apply.

The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all required documentation is received by the competition deadline. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline or by individuals whose membership in Phi Alpha Theta cannot be verified will not be considered for the competition.
